The Amish sets the perfect example of being frugal. They make sure to live in a way that does not contribute to be wasteful. They strive to be as self- sufficient as possible. And they like to mind, reuse and repurpose as much as possible. Here are 3 ways in the Amish are frugal in even their housekeeping practices.
Dog food can be very expensive. So the Amish like to cook enough so that their furry friends can eat from their pots too. Their families are usually large. And a lot of food is prepared for meals. So there is usually enough for the dogs to get their share too.
2)Make Old Bedding New
Most Amish women are good at mending. And they do make use of their skills to give new life to old bed sheets. Sheets normally start getting worn out from the middle. So what they will do is split the worn sheets down the middle. Then turn the ends into the middle and sew them together.
3)Reuse Old Bread Bags
The Amish like to make their own bread. In fact, they do make a lot of things from scratch. And bread is no exception. But it can be easy to run short of bread bags in no time. To avoid this, and keep from buying new bags, Amish women like to wash bread bags. They will hang the bags to dry, and keep using them and not have to keep buying new ones.
