Maybe you already know that Amish folks do not have many of the diseases that regular folks battle with. A few might, but not many of them. Their lifestyle contributes to why these plain are usually healthier than outsiders. Here are some reasons why.

Simplified Work Activities

The Amish lead a simple life. Their days are filled with work. But not usually work that cause headaches and stress. A fast paste life contributes to anxiety and stress, which can lead to other health complications. Did you know that stress can even cause obesity? Taking things easy, and filling your life with work and activities that are not very stressful can help you too to be healthier.

Eating Real Food

Amish families prefer to eat real food. Their meals are usually cooked from scratch, so they are not consuming harmful substances without even knowing. Avoiding fast food and pre-cooked meals will help you to be in more control of what goes into your body. Also, growing some of your own food, if not all, will allow you to enjoy some good homegrown food that is not infused with toxic substances, insecticides, and fertilizers.

Getting Enough Sleep

Getting enough sleep is one of the best ways to add years to your life. Your body needs proper rest to carry out a lot of functions inside. The Amish are hard-working people, but they make sure to go to their beds earlier enough and get enough sleep. They aren’t up in the nights watching television or listening to radio, and taking away precious time from their rest period.

Being Grateful

Having a lot of worldly desires can put pressure on your brain. And cause you to not be at peace. If you are always wanting material, you will be constantly thinking about them instead of being grateful for what you already have. The Amish lead a life of not wanting much. Which allows them to be grateful for what they have. And when you are grateful, you will be a happy person. Which will result in you having less stress and worries.

Active Lifestyle

Yes, Amish people do exercise. Being active and do some form of exercising regularly helps with your overall health. Amish families don’t have cars, so they do a lot of walking. And even harnessing a horse for a buggy ride takes much energy. Also, a lot of Amish families have farms and gardens which do contribute to an active lifestyle. So adding some activities which will get to you moving in your daily life can help you to keep your heart rate up and burn some calories without even noticing.

Natural Home Remedies

Amish people are very much connected to nature. They use many natural home remedies to ward off illnesses, and they avoid mainstream healthcare. Regular healthcare that society provides can be helpful, but using some natural home remedies can also keep you healthy just the same. And sometimes even better.

Support System

One main secret to happiness is having a good support system. Knowing you have family and loved ones gives you a feeling of belonging and security. Amish community members are surrounded by family and friends. They do a lot of things together, are strongly bonded and each person knows that there is a community to support him/her comes what may.

Clean Air

You will notice that most Amish groups reside in farming and rural communities. The air they breathe less toxic than the air in urban communities with big factories and a lot of fumes coming from vehicles. The things that are used in regular society that makes the air toxic are endless to mention. However, breathing cleaner air is always better to keep our bodies healthy.
