9 Amish Lifestyle Practices For Your Crazy Morning Routine

9 Amish Lifestyle Practices For Your Crazy Morning Routine

February 13, 2018 by summer

Maybe you are one of the many people who keep trying to create a morning routine that will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed. It is quite normal for most people to regret having to get out of bed in the mornings, because of all the activities they know are waiting on them. However, there are some people who have shaped their morning routines to be something they actually anticipate. Their mornings are organized and they have time to breathe and take on the day. Most Amish folks have a lifestyle that naturally allows this to happen.

Based on how the Amish live, here are some tips you can emulate from them to simplify your life and morning routine.

1.Go to bed early

Going to bed early is one of the main things to start practicing so you will be able to get up early in the mornings. When you get enough rest at nights, you don’t wake up feeling like you are still tired. And most times, you don’t even need an alarm clock. Because your body will be properly rested and will naturally be awaken on time.

2.Tidy Up Before Bed

Try your best to wash your dishes before bed and do necessary tidying up around the house. If you do this, you will be able to focus on the present day without having to clean up yesterday’s mess.

3.Simplify Your Attire

Decide on what you will be wearing from the day before. The Amish don’t have a lot of clothing styles to choose from. So they don’t have to spend time deciding which colour shoes to wear with that polka dot blouse. Simplify your wardrobe as much as possible. That way, you can give less time to making wardrobe decisions.

4.Prep Breakfast

If possible, prep your breakfast from the night before. It takes time to make your meal. But it can also take up more time trying to decide what you should eat. And if you plan to do something that will be technical, prepping from the evening before is always best.

5.Wake Up Early

Waking up at least 10-15 minutes before time to get out of bed will help you to ease into your morning routine. Your body will get time to transition from your slumber to being awake. And you will actually like getting out of bed, since you do not have to force yourself out with sleep in your eyes.

6.Have Quiet Time

This is so necessary… Whether you are spiritual or not , quiet time to start your day will work wonders for you. Your brain is at its best in the mornings. So having even just a few minutes to connect with yourself and your being will gradually help you to experience life and different situations with a different kind of understanding. Usually for the better.

7.Plan Ahead

Do not wait until the morning to think about what you will do with your day. Decision making takes time. So always plan from the day before what you will do with your tomorrow. If necessary, make a to do list before you go to bed. But avoid making one that is overwhelming.

8.Be Mindful And Present

Take time to enjoy the moment.  Enjoy the sunshine, or the snow. Take things slowly and appreciate being able to wake up another day.

9.Simplify

Do not pack unnecessary activities in your mornings. You will grow to realize that a lot of the activities that keep us busy, on the go and overwhelm us, are not that really important to our existence at all. So keep evaluating the things that you do with your time. And eliminate as you continue to shape your morning routine into one that makes you feel happy about seeing a new day.

These tips might not be practiced in all Amish homes. But a lot of Amish families do live in a way that allows most of these practices to be a way of life for them.

It was interesting to the suggestions of ideas you presented. Growing up it was instilled in us in regards to cleaning any dishes up and straighten up pillows, etc. So everything was in place.
I also had to have my clothes clean and ironed if need be.
Having an idea with what to say was great. So your article helped make my morning go smooth. My drive to work was soothing so off goes the radio and my thoughts can begin..☺
